Inspired by Zed to play...
Here is the finished shawl.
All the way through it reminded me of Monet- Water Lilies.

So how did you like working with alpaca? Did you dye the fibers? I love the thinness of it and how you can see through it.

Hi Ruth,
I did lots of samples, I had a variety of fibre to choose from. I tried the (1st clip) which is so beautifully soft I can't even describe it, but the fibres are really short and these couldn't be placed. I had to card them- even then not great. I tried raw fleece - but lots of guard hairs- so not quite right for the shawl. I then tried some dyed fibre from a company in Devon in the UK. I didn't have much and just wanted to see if I could make a shawl without carding. I just teased the fibres apart, I wanted to see if I could keep the crimp. I think becasue the fibre was processed slightly it just held better. It took longer to work and roll to get it to felt and there are a couple of areas I might need to just go over. I have to be careful where the fibres cross over each other, it was a little slippery and they are prone to moving position, so have to start very gently. It is only 50g of fibre. I think if I were to do it again, I would probably stay with 1 layer but slow down the layout and take more care at this point.
Thanks Ann - I know what you mean. Me too.
