So glad it worked Ruth. I hadn't thought of using them as you did I was going to heat them like acid dye. I wonder if the colours would have been brighter if you heated them. They were pretty good this way.

Ann - I considered heating them like acid dyes but just didn't have the time to do it. Next time, I will try heat to see if that makes any difference.

I finally got my thread all organized and on to tubes. I'm always amazed what the thread looks like after it has been wound up like this.

I borrowed a thread winder from a friend. It does all the work and makes the beautiful patterns.

Hello Ruth, the threads are bright and beautiful. Love them... Now long do you soak the threads in soda ash??? I look forward to seeing them after theynhave been washed... May I ask where you get your white thread from?

Ruth, the Procion dyed threads are wonderful! What stitchery class will you be teaching…will it be on-line?

Hmmm... I don't know what happened to my photo of the threads after they have been wound. I looked but I don't have any here at the store. They are at home. I will have to remember to re-post the photos. Judy - you soak the threads for about an hour in soda ash. I ordered most of the thread from here: lacis.com/catalog/I didn't see any #3 perle cotton but didn't spend a lot of time looking. The lace weight yarn in wool is really nice too. Cathy - I am not currently planning on teaching a stitchery class. I don't want to step on Gail Harker's toes in teaching the same sort of thing she does. I try to teach things that I have developed myself.

Sorry I misread your post, Ruth. Indeed that would be taking away from Gail Harker’s lovely classes.

Sorry the photos are so big. Here is some of the thread that I have dyed in the past. Not sure these are the ones dyed in this particular dye session but you get the idea.
