I am a keen felter and, as of recent, owner of a small flock of sheep (crossbreeds of old Swedish breeds), living in northern Sweden. I have not been felting for very long (and just as a hobby), but now that I have my own sheep I both have the material and a good excuse to continue experimenting with felting. :-) I am really glad to have found this forum and look forward to sharing experiences! I have a blog where most of my recent posts are about felting. It's in Swedish, but I have started to at least add a short summary in English at the end of my posts - and you can probably figure out what I have done just by looking at the photos. Zara, welcome to our club. Your work is admirable. I like the way you recycle things and combine different materials and also involve children in creative activities. I envy you your sheep.

Hi Zara, your work is wonderful, and I agree your pictures tell the story of your creative process, I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work and the girls who obviously enjoy helping mum with her projects. Very jealous of your sheep too, I would enjoy reading about how you get those lovely silky locks :-)

Many thanks for the warm welcome! I am lucky to have two daugthers (9 and 4 years old) that also enjoy doing crafts, and having our own sheep adds another dimension to our felting projects. We are expecting lambs in about 2 months time (beginning of May and hopefully spring time here). We are really looking forward to that and I promise to post some photos of the newly borns. :-)

Welcome, Zara! Your work is simply beautiful! I was looking at how you dyed the doilies and added them to the wool and was trying to figure out what the end product was…colors are black and raspberry. Looks like you are needle-felting as well! Would love to know more about your work.

Zara, those are quite elaborate wrist warmers, love the intricate designs. Very clever to incorporate the doilies at the edges. Actually, those wrist warmers would be welcome in Chicago, where I live. We are braving a very long, bitter winter! Thanks so much for sharing your process and photos.

Terve Amanda! Nice to find a neighbour on this forum! :-)
My sheep are crosses between Gotland, Rya and Finull (I don't know of any English translations to the breed names). The white one also has som Shropshire in her. The ram is of the breed Åsenfår, so our lambs will be a mixture of 4 Swedish breeds. I am looking forward to seeing what the resultat will be of that in terms of the fleece. :-)

Welcome! Your work is very nice. I have a friend here in Canada that like to add doilies and lace into her felt. The seep are lovely, Gotland I know and have some of the wool. Rya I have heard of but not the other two. I was hoping that you would have Swiss Valais Blacknose Sheep. I would love to get a fleece. there are so many more breeds in Europe.

Ah, yes. The Swiss blacknose sheep are gorgeous! I'd love to have a couple of those too. Have not found anyone in Sweden that has them though. The breeds in my sheep are old, traditional Swedish breeds.
