Hello everyone! How nice to find a forum full of fibre enthusiasts! My name is Mariana. I'm argentinean but live in The Netherlands now with Mr Husband, a son... and another baby on the way. Well... I'm due anytime now! I got a studio full of wool, silk, bamboo and all sorts of fibres which I use for knitting, weaving, crocheting, I dyed them with natural stuff... or felt them. At the moment everything is a bit on stand by because the enormous belly gets in the way and doing any of the above becomes an epic task. ;D So I thought I'd stop by and instead, chat with people that have the same interests I have a website www.florcita.eu where I post trials, errors and successes... if you are interested. I hope everyone is doing alright!

Hi Mariana! Good to see you here I hope you're keeping well. You're definitely in the right place here, it'd be good to know more about weaving, knitting and crocheting, and how you do your gorgeous coiled yarn And the more fibres, the better Congratulations on the baby, I hope the labour goes well. How is your sedum roof doing?

Hello Mariana and welcome, have looked at some of your lovely yarns.
We'll look forward to hearing news of your new arrival. Perhaps a Christmas baby? I'm a retired midwife and I just adore tiny babies.

Hello Mariana and welcome to the forum. I like your stitching on felt and the chromatic pebbles piece is very eye-catching.
Good luck with the new baby!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I thought it was happening yesterday already but no... we are still pregnant The sedum roof is doing great! My studio has a green roof... that is covered with plants, sedum ones. These ones grow sloooooowly. Although in winter many die down or get darker colours, in spring and summer the myriad of tiny little flowers all over the roof, is just a beautiful sight! Coiled yarn... piece of cake... errmmm now I should find words to explain it Anyway, Im going to go on and read a bit around the forum!

nice work florcita. Your yarn looks like core spun yarn. I am hoping to lean how just after Christmas. I plan to make some with curls and sari silk waste and ribbons and maybe sparkly stuff(if I can find where I put it)

You know... I dont know much about spinning... I just spin and then dye/knit/weave/felt. I got a spinning wheel for a birthday, taught myself how to use it... and that was it. Terminology, I dont have. I know -at least the English- call this "coiled yarn", because I received a fibre magazine from a friend a while back where it explained how to make "coiled yarn" which is basically ...yeah, using a core yarn... wrap another one on top and then push forward... that's how you get the coils... I find it difficult to explain! I will look for the magazine and maybe scan and post! coiling by Marian Florcita, on Flickr

thats a good discription. art yarns are very expensive to buy so doing them yourself is great.

Hi Shelley... This one? florcita.eu/wordpress/ If so, it is indeed drawstring. It's actually reversible. It's just one layer of grey and one layer of white. Both sides can be used and both sides have a little drawing. I don't think the photo shows it, but on the white side, under the drawing, there is a fine, very stretched layer of silk cap. I find these drawstring type skirts easy to make and use... especially since Im pregnant and you know... one size fits all
