When I joined the forum I was asked about the felting of our mohair, so I thought I would post a couple of pictures of one of my mohair cushions, The body of the cushion is wet felted and the front is embellished with Locks of mohair that has been needle felted. Thanks for Looking. Amanda

It is very nice ans it must be so so soft. A question: How com the locks are still loose and not all felted? Is it a special way of felting? Thanks for the info.

The cushions are definately crying out for a cuddle. With the locks I needle felt the ends of each lock individually so the lock will just hang loose, requires a lot of needle felting to not come loose!!!

I understand now. Lots a patience too. So you wet felted first than added lock at the end. It is beautiful and worth the effort.

Oh my, oh my, oh my. So very beautiful. Is there a special way to wash this, if needed?

That looks so gorgeous, I can almost feel the softness Crealou, if you position locks and felt them carefully it is possible to have them loose and not felt in, especially if you use raw fibre. It easiest if you put them around edges/between seams etc.

you can do it by putting plastic wrap between each row of locks too but no mater how you do it, it is a lot of work.

combining the merino with the raw alpaca the merino would have felted first and fast grapping the alpaca. the alpaca felts mush slower so she probably just fluffed out the edges after she was done. try a sample put some alpaca on the edge of a merino square and then felt. when rubbing only rub the alpaca where its over the merino.
