Here is a pair of gloves I did with my alpaca fiber. I have uses a commercial prefelt merino as a base and I have put my shinny black alpaca fiber (not carded) on top. I did a separate embellishment with again alpaca and a matching bead.

Very nice. I like the contrast of the flower to the shiny black. They look very well made.

These are cute. I tried to make a pair, well one actually to see how it would go. I made the resist too big and couldn't shrink the wool to fit my hand......I made it into a purse for a little girl.

It just goes to prove there is no such thing as wasted felt! There's always a use for it!

I love the way you placed the flowers differently on each hand and the way the centre of the flower echoes the black. Enjoy wearing them :-)

I post something yesterday about the resist I had but can not find my post anymore?!?!? Anyway, all I was saying is that I was very lucky that the first attempt with the size of the resist I made what the good size I needed. Once it is all felted, I stretched it a bit on a lemon juice bottle ( big realemon bottle).

Beautiful as they are, I hope it's several months before you need to wear them!

I really do like them and I'll have to try again. What I did was photocopy my hand then enlarged the copy by 30%. I thought that would be perfect. Oh well, the neighbor girl loves her purse. Off to eat dinner, pizza just arrived.

What did you try to shrink it some more? I like to heat it up in the microwave and then use a stick blind or for smaller things a stick place mat when it's being stubborn. Sometimes you need to let it rest till the next day. I have no idea why that works but it often does. It often shrinks up very quickly.

Ann, Don't know what happened to my reply.....this is the second coming! I rolled and rolled and rolled in bubble wrap. I don't have a stick blind or stick mat. I tried throwing in the sink a few times. Think I even tried rolling in the dryer. Still reading my book and reading on the forum.

Stick blinds are more aggressive than the bubble wrap. I got mine cheap at the second hand store. You have to remove the hardware but that's not to hard. Heating it up opens up the scales on the wool and helps it felt faster. I am not sure what happens to posts sometimes. It happens to me occasionally too.
