Of course it's not the painting! I use carded merino and various fibers to lay the picture and wet felt it. The works of Renata Kraus (the fiber artist from Lithuania) are very inspirational! renatos-veltinis.blogspot.co.uk/

Lovely flower paintings Felicity. I'd love to 'paint' with fibre, and I have tried, but since I'm not much good with a paintbrush, there's not a lot of hope!

Thank you very much! To tell the truth these are not my first tries, but the best so far! I am not very artistic unfortunately and I just copy the picture. The main problem is to separate "layers", to understand what wool/fibers put first and what later. But I really enjoy it and will keep going!

Your art work is lovely. I am afraid mine usually look like kindergarten flower.

I have quite a few such pieces, Ann! Using a carded wool as a background helps a bit; it penetrates upper layers and blurs the boundaries making them softer.

These are fabulous! I can't draw stick people. Now I'm not knocking what I CAN do but would be nice to "paint" like you did.

Lovely! Have you use merino, coriddale to do them? Have you bought a tutorial from Renata? I know that she does only work from short fiber wool but not merino. Very good job!

crealou, yes, it's mainly carded wool (Cape-Merino), at least basic colours - red, blue, yellow. I added merino tops of some other colours and a lot of decorative fibers (viscose, flax). No, I do not have any tutorials from Renata.
