I don't actually visit Flickr very often. I went to my photostream today and went "whoa, what happened"? I actually like the new look but was wondering when it changed. Just recently?

Yesterday. I really hate it, it's a violent, screaming, visual onslaught to me.
It looks clumsy and cluttered and everything is too big. I have to keep scrolling to see the things I could see all at once yesterday.
There's no respite, almost every part is filled with something, and considering my contacts, most things are bright and colourful.
I have to keep the Recent Comments page on to rest my eyes.
People are talking about switching to ipernity.com

I never heard of ipernity.com There's always something new. I can see why you wouldn't like it Zed. The groups page isn't like it. Just the front pages of your photostream, I think. But of course, I would imagine they are trying to compete with FB etc and that' why they did it.

I could like the photostream page being all big and looking like pinterest if I still had a page like the old opening page that showed the groups you belong to and the people you follow and links to your photos and albums on one page. I hate to have to hunt for what I had easy access to before. I can see how it would be a problem for you Zed. I don't se why they can't let you set it up the way you like it with pictures the size you want them.

They want to serve the people who take photos with phones and want to upload them there and there to share. There are already sites like that, though. Marissa Mayer (Yahoo CEO) said in an interview the other day that 'there are no professional photographers'. She's not interested in those of us who want a professional looking, easy to use site, she wants the adhd. 10 second attention span market. It's nice that the groups page is still mostly white and easy on the eyes. They also messed with the photos for sets. I chose mine carefully to show what each set is about, they've cropped the image so it shows nothing I can't find how to edit a photo and it makes me ill to keep searching. to get the old style photostream view, add '?details=1' to the end of the url www.flickr.com/photos/zedster01/?details=1

It is sad that they can not see we are part of their market. Women our age are some of the highest users of the internet. They want the teenage market and they don't care, they flit form here to there. I don't see why it should be hard to make several views and let you chose the one you like.
Has anyone found a good blog reader to replace google reader yet? Not that I have been looking at much lately.

I haven't looked at any either, Ann. I was hoping some of the blogs I follow would start discussing it but no one has yet.
That's good that you can change it to the old photostream, Zed. How did you figure that out?
