I decided to join Judy Laquidara's QAL. I'm a bit late starting, so I'm having to catch up. I'm having great fun and hope it turns out OK. It's about 3 years since I've made a quilt, which was dor one of my grandaughters. Now little sister would like one, she's 3 and her favourite colours are red and yellow. I've included some green as I really liked the Moda Simple Marks range. The background ditsy print is some from my stash. She's seen the fabric and has approved my choice, which is just as well!! The photography is very poor. miscellaneous 020 by koffipot, on Flickr miscellaneous 021 by koffipot, on Flickr miscellaneous 023 by koffipot, on Flickr

Aren't you brave? I can't manage all that cutting and piecing. Mine always turn out wonky. I look forward to seeing your progress.

Make sure you get a balance of darks, lights and mediums. The sign of a beginner is that they use all mediums. That was the mistake I made on my first quilt. Don't be afraid of white here and there.

Ruth, mine are a bit wonky, but all going together OK so far, with a little tug here and an extra press there! Nothing is perfect in this world! Making the quilt top is only the beginning, the hand quilting is the long job and that won't be perfect either, but be assured, there'll be love in every stitch and glitch !

Judith I think that is going to be gorgeous, its been so long since I've made a quilt and my favourite part of it was the hand quilting, very therapeutic. Looking forward to seeing this finished

Wow, that looks like it'll be a lot of work! Keep showing us your progress, I've never made a quilt and would love to see how you're going

It's all down to precise cutting and seam allowances. These squares are pretty small, so less margin for error! That's how they're sometimes a bit wonky. Will post more progress pics.

Not wonky - organic! We like organic as it's more artistic and original.
