MY son is looking for a drawing program. he has used the photo shop drawing and likes it but would like one that is for drawing. so he wants it to have lots of tools and layering. So for the computer art folks what do you recommend? It doesn't need to be free but if the is a really good free one he wouldn't object I am sure.

I keep hearing people talking about Corel Draw. I don't know anything about it, but a lot of my art quilt friends use it.

Illustrator is a really good drawing program, it's by Adobe too, so the layout and functions are similar to Photoshop. I haven't used it since the early 90's but it was very similar then. It's professional too.

Does he have a smart phone or tablet? There are a lot of applications for drawing.

No he has a little notebook computer . I think he needs to look what available on tablets too. they seem to me more artistic and less business oriented.
