One of my Angora goats Shirl, (Shirley Temple) because of all her beautiful curls has a lump a little smaller than a plumb on one of her ears. I finished clipping ehr down at the weekend, she even has curls over her ears so you can imagine my horror when I discovered it. Hard as and doesn't move, I'm pretty sure it is cancerous, the vet is coming Friday morning. It wasn't there 6 months ago when she had her last haircut I do them all myself so would have noticed. One of my other girls, Blanche has a black raise mole on the base of one of her ears and the vet has treated it twice now with liquid nitrogen but this big lump has me worried on Shirl.

Try not to worry yourself around in circles until the vet has been on Friday.

Poor Shirley, don't worry to much and see what the vet says. You always feel guilty when you find something you feel you should have noticed. But animals are very good at hiding problems. I have seen similar things on our sheep before. With any luck is is nothing at all. It could just be a sliver that has caused it but being on her ear even if it is something an ear is not to difficult to fix. As long as you are fixing problems when you find them you are doing your job.

just a quick update, Arron the vet has examined her ear and it would seem although its a very hard solid lump the skin moves freely over the top of it so that was a good sign as opposed to it being attached, he tried to get some fluid out but nothing so the plan for the moment is to observe for a few weeks take measurements etc and see if it grows anymore, surgery may be required yet but in herself she is fine, so for now its a waiting game. thanks for all your good wishes.

Glad to hear the partially good news. Hopefully it will either resolve itself or be able to be taken off easily.

Hoping for the best possible outcome for Shirley. I used to work in a vets and saw many lumps and bumps on animals that turned out to be nothing serious so fingers crossed x
