This is a little off subject, but I would like to encourage everyone to never ignore an eye problem. I was diagnosed with Vitreous Detachment. I started seeing an unusual amount of floaters in my right eye and began seeing flashes of light. At first I thought this was a stroke, so I called my doctor.
My doctor just dismissed this and sent a message to use eye drops. Well, fortunately, I ignored his advice and went to see my eye doctor. There were no changes in my eyesight, no pain. He suggested that I get my eyes dilated, as he suspected that something might be there.
I am in no danger of losing my sight at this time, but the vitreous liquid in my eye is detaching from my retina. I could possibly have a hole in the retina someday. If ignored, that could make me go blind.

I've never heard of that before. I have photopsia, but from Migraine.
Is there anything that can be done to stop it or fix it, Judy?

When old age hits, there are so many things that can happen to us. I never heard of it either. My eysight has not changed, but I have an increase of floaters in my right eye that seem annoying at times. I get flashes of light in the right eye. He told me that the flashes will go away, but the floaters will increase. There is nothing that can be done. The only thing that really frightens me is the chance that I would get a hole in the retina. I would have to have surgery and I guess that would also affect my sight. I would hate to think about not being able to see.

I am finding a very large number of people who are in my age range that are having Retina Detachments. I guess I just never realized how common this is. It is really dangerous to the eyesight. So, let this be a caution to you if you are nearing 70. Do not ignore eye changes.
