Hello. This is just to tell the whole wide world that I am very proud of my daughter, 9-year-old, who felted her very first big scarf-shawl and sold it to raise money for charity. Here is her work, it is not perfect but she had some issues with the size of our table and bubblewraps, so it was not her fault, really, if the wool moved before she could wet and pre-felt it (her little brother also was acting up close to the table at the time, and compounded the issue...). Size 1: www.dropbox.com/s/9cudkwdos41m42s/img_20220531_082619.jpg?dl=0Size 2: www.dropbox.com/s/eis5ojuvoo6eatu/img_20220531_082631.jpg?dl=0She used merino wool, silk hankies, scraps of silk scarf, wool locks (those kind of got lost along the road, mostly). The kids crocheted and designed various items to sell, and organised a charity sale last Sunday: they managed to raise around 65 pounds and had loads of fun!:-)

A fabulous first go and with a little brother trying to help. Better than many older than her. Young kids are amazing in what they can do.

A great result Caterina, you are right to be proud of her, not only for the felt but for taking the trouble to raise money for charity. Can't wait to see what she achieves in her next project.

Amazing shawl - it's very pretty! Many adults wouldn't attempt a felting project that big, so kudos to her.
What a creative, wonderful way to raise money for charity - the children should be congratulated.

Thank you for your kindness, Ann and Lyn! :-) I am constantly surprised by her creativity, so different from mine and very interesting. Also, I am always telling her that perfection doesn't take risks :-) so, imperfect is fine. Especially at that explorative age.

Wow, that was a lot of work for a nine year old. And yay you for encouraging her to let things be imperfect which has its own beauty. I didn't learn that for a long time and still struggle with trying to reach "perfection".

I didn't learn that for a long time and still struggle with trying to reach "perfection". Thanks, Ruth! It is actually pretty hard to balance between avoiding sloppiness and embracing natural imperfection! :-) I guess I have not learned that myself, lol, but my daughter is really hard on herself so I try to be the other person on the seasaw, so to speak :-D
