Hi there. I'm Janet from Colorado, USA. I've been felting for about three years now but still consider myself a newbie. I got my BFA in sculpture decades ago but spent most of my life on other pursuits to support myself. I'm now in my mid 60s and am getting back to my art roots. Fiber arts is fairly new to me; in the past I worked in hard materials like metal and wood. Now I make mixed media sculptures that incorporate felted elements. I do mostly needle felting but might start doing more wet felting. There's still a whole lot I have to learn about felting and other fiber arts, and that's one reason I've joined this forum. I look forward to being inspired and getting more educated. Glad to have found this forum!

Hi Janet! Welcome to the forum. I look forward to seeing some of your mixed media sculptures. I hope you'll share photos of them with us. I love working in mixed media too. Please feel free to join in the conversations, ask questions and share your work. A friend of mine recently sent me a link of driftwood and paper sculptures but I immediately thought, this would work with felt. lightness.ca/driftwood-lighting/selected-work/

Hi Janet, There is plenty to read on the Forum you can set aside days, not just hours, to browse through the posts. So many rabbit holes to dive down. Lots of information here and plenty of advice and encouragement for the asking. I'd love to see some of your mixed media work too. Ruth thanks for that link, the work is beautiful. It made me think of some of Haeckel's drawings. I agree the ideas would work with felt and silks.
