Hello, Louise here and ready to learn more about wet felting! I have been needle felting for about a year and a few months ago discovered wet felting. Such fun! I would like help on how to “plan” my resists. The simple circle for the vessel I understand. I’ve also created a book resists for a pod, but beyond that I am stumped. For example if I want to create a conch shell the dimensions have me baffled. Is this something that has to be pieced together? I’ve taken both of Pam de Groot’s online classes and learned many techniques, but I want more info on how to plan 2D for 3D. Any thoughts?

Hello Louise and welcome to the forum. I love wet felting but my resist work is basic. I hope other forum members will be able to help you.

welcome. from the bits and pieces, I have seen about conch shells it is 3 stacked pieces I think. There is an online tutorial but If I remember it was not a great one. it is a few years ago I saw it. so it may take a little searching to find. A lot was down to the stretching and shaping to get it to look like a shell

Thank you Lyn, Ruth and Ann,
I will check out the posts and dive right in. When I have something to show I will post. It makes sense about how the wool is laid out and differential shrinkage...time to experiment. Very happy for the resource of this forum!
