I picked apart a couple of garments to get the silk. I washed them. They bled like crazy. but I got them mostly stopped. after they were dry I ironed them. they are still wrinkly. How do you get silk smooth again?

I iron it when wet. It's a pain.

Yes, I agree with Ruth. Also the silk should be protected during ironing by a pressing cloth and there's a special silk setting on an iron.

I turned up the iron to silk and my iron leaks. Looks like I need a new iron. Considering how little ironing I do you would think they would last longer. It is probably 10 years old but has only had a few months worth of use.

I agree with the others Ann. I iron any silk whilst it is still quite damp and usually have my iron on a setting some where between silk & Max. Unlike Lyn I iron straight onto the silk. Silk is quite resilient. I'm to be found ironing every week & my iron is about 15 yrs old!
