I took about a silk tunic to get the fabric. the lining I thought was cotton but when I wet it it was slippery or slick feeling. Not slimy but definitely not like normal cotton. It is very light fabric, more like a tight gauze than sheeting. Now that is dry it is stiff feeling and feels almost but not quite waxed. Maybe linen? seems an odd choice for lining. Any Ideas? I wondered if it was woven with mercerized cotton when it was slippery but I don't know about it being stiff now. I plan to iron it tomorrow so I will up date after that. See if it changes anything.

Cotton organdy? It's stiff but very lightweight.

a friend also said it might be silk. some silks go stiff after washing. seems you have to abuse it afterwards,(scrunch and wack) then iron. I may give that a try.
