Hello from north of the 49th parallel. I’m very new to felting but I have been a long-time knitter and a relatively new spinner. When I began spinning and learning about fibers, including accidentally felting some of my precious Rambouillet fleece, I discovered the world of felting. So, down the rabbit hole I hopped. “Under Paris Skies” is the name of a hauntingly beautiful waltz. When I finally plucked up the courage to make my first object, this song was playing. My husband is a musician and his group was rehearsing in our home as they do every Tuesday night. They play the music of Paris from the 1920’s to 1940’s or so...the music of Django Reinhardt and Stephan Grappelli. They also play others, so this is how I came to name my own little felting venture Under Paris Skies. For the past 6 Tuesday evenings I have made one small felted bowl while listening to their music. Their rehearsal is two hours long and this how long it takes to make one bowl. My goal is to continue this intentional practice. Now that I have a small collection of bowls, I would like to sit down and embellish them with some needle felted flowers or other decorations. I look forward to getting to know the members here. Thanks you for creating this space for all of us. Deborah

Hi, how lovely that sounds. I’d very much enjoy felting to that wonderful live music. It would be good to see some of your felted collection to date.

Welcome from another Canuck. I am over near Ottawa. You have a great resource near you called The Olive Sparrow. She felts and sells supplied. We would love to see your bowls. Embellishing can be a lot of fun no matter how you do it, needle felting, stitching, beading, so much fun.
