Love the scribble trees Ann, and the description of the process from curls through spinning to the finished result.

I haven’t been in the studio for a while now and am itching to get back in there. Instead I’m thinking about resists for shells again so yesterday collected a few shells from the beach where I live so I can examine them more closely. I’d like to base my designs on local shells so they will provide a good starting point. Oh, I also started beading a new necklace in the evening to keep my hands busy!

Always good to do some research. I look forward to seeing how your shells develop. I would love to see your necklace as well.

Thanks, Lindsay. I cant wait to see what you do with the shells. they are hard to wrap my head around. I would live to see the necklace as well My daily dose today was doing some sketches for pictures. One ting I have discovered is that some people are working much larger than I had thought. I was wondering how they get all the detail in. If your piece is 2'x4' or 3'x5' the is lots of room for details. Here I am working on 5"x6" and 10"x12" and wondering how to make everything fit with lots of detail. I need to work bigger. It is hard to fight against the don't waist stuff gene, what if it doesn't work then it's all waisted.

I haven’t taken a photo of the new necklace yet (and I’m away for new year now) but it’s the same pattern as this but in muted pinkish / purplish colours.

OMG that is gorgeous. You have many talents. Thank you, Ann, very kind. It’s actually not as complex as it looks - it’s a basic even-count peyote stitch. The beads are several different sizes which is what creates the frill shape.

Wow! What a lot of work in your necklace. Very cool. Thanks, Ruth. It takes a lot of hours but once you get started it’s pretty straightforward so the kind of handwork you can do in the evening and it’s very easy to pick up & put down.
