Whilst chatting with Galina a while back I said it may be a good idea to take some fleece along to any fair you were doing to show the public what your tools actually looked like. She said she thought this was a good idea.
Following on from Lyn saying education is needed, I knew I would definitely take some wool along to my fair. I spotted a picture of a Merino sheep in the newspaper a while back and cut it out - as you do. I have laminated or should I say 'lambinated' the picture and added the fleece, some locks and my fave nepps and silks. I can wave this at people and show them the tools of our trade!
I think it looks really quirky

It's lovely! It's good that people can touch the wool too.
I found that the more people interacted with and/or learnt about what was on sale on the table, the more they bought!
If you have a tablet, you could have a short film of you doing some felting to show customers. and/or If you have a power source at the fair, a digital photo frame filled with photos of your felting on a constant loop could be good.

A really good way to show the process, and Lyn your idea of scrolling images will attract interest too.

Great collage of learning. I usually have my drop spindle with me so I can show people what the wool looks like.

Thats. great, Tracey! I have a few felt samples I take: Herdwick, Wensleydale, Alpaca, and Kitten (then admit it's actually Camel!) I love your idea of a slideshow, Lyn. I took my tablet on Saturday, loaded with my tutorials so I could show anyone interested, but I just never had any of those conversations. I think I'll sort out a slideshow for next time and just leave the tablet running it.
