This might be in the wrong place, but I am curious about making my own custom blends for my wet felted projects. What are your thoughts about using a drum carder? They are so expensive, I wanted to get the official view of this talented group. Does it make seance for wet felting or is it more for carding fleeces or spinning?

There are lots of us that have drum carders. They are great for making batts for felting. Yes, they are expensive but well worth it in my opinion. I love using batts for felting instead of roving.

Although I have a drumcarder for preparing my raw fleeces for spinning, I use my handcarders or blending board for blending wool for felt projects. I think with handcarders or blending board you have more control over the blending.

Drum carders are great for making batts for wet felting. Where are you located? There are reasonable ones out there or look at used.

I love my drum carder, but I use it more for scoured wool, making up batts from scraps etc.
I prefer hand blending for wet felting.
I did find it useful for blending roving for scarves.

I looked up blending board as mentioned by Madeleine, wow, still pricey. I will stick with my hand carders, or as the shop I bought them from calls them - 'dog grooming brushes' !!
