I love Autumn because of the colours and we are being treated to a spectacular show right now. I have been collecting acorn cups and needle felting the 'acorn'. I thought this would make a nice garland especially to drape across the front of a stall at an Autumn craft fair as decoration, and if anyone took a shine to it you could sell it. Having said that, I think this one will be staying with me! Hope you like it. www.dropbox.com/s/vw2paxcl9mejz1p/20161027_134859.jpg?dl=0

Autumn is also my favorite season. Your acorn cups make a lovely garland, and it's perfect in such a natural setting.

I think you should keep and enjoy it! It's a lovely garland and would look good indoors during the winter months. How long did each acorn take you to make? Good photo too - I like the backdrop of the tree bark.

Thanks Lyn. I guess just to make the acorn shape is about ten minutes, but then they are further shaped once they are in the cups. Everything is a labour of love isn't it? Only a couple of stabs too!! I tried to drape it artfully over a branch stem in a vase but you could not see them well enough. I think I arranged and took about twenty tree photos......

It is a labour of love indeed.
Only twenty photos? You did well. It feels as if I spend more time trying to get a photo that's accurate in colour, not out-of-focus and pleasing to the eye, than I do making the item! The worst bit is when I download the photos from my camera to my computer and I see just how many I have to look through.

Tracey, your acorn garland is wonderful. I can see why you would want to keep it plus all the time it takes to make, you probably couldn't sell it for enough to compensate your time.

Ah yes twenty tree photos, also umpteen branch in a vase photos and oh no it looks awful on the floor photos! Delete delete delete...all part of the sharing fun! Thanks for the kind comment Ruth, yes we all know how little folk want to give you for your hard work, I would feel like saying 'no thanks, I would rather give it to the dog to chew!'

That's a good one. I'll have to remember that comment for when someone really irritates me

Looks a lot like holiday lights! Very pretty and well done! Did you glue the acorns to the braided strand? How did you attach them? I like the little clusters of acorns together.

Hi thanks very much! Yes the acorns were glued into the cups then glued onto the braided jute. A friend suggested braiding it to give a larger surface area, very sensible, I like having clever friends! A simple garland but fun and fitting for the season. I LOVE your tree pics on your flickr page, nature is so beautiful at times.

Thanks for the info about gluing and for the compliments on the photos! I took about 30-40 more than I posted, you know, trying to get different effects with the light, trying different angles. It's so fun to be able to share with people who might find them inspirational. 😍🌰🍂🍁🍄
