Hi here, I am Aggie, I just started felting in february, and loved it. I usually dabble more in polymer clay, but it is sometimes frustrating for larger scale or wearable work. I learned through websites (many of them from people present on this forum) and bought a few books. I love 3D work and resist felting. My first try with resist felting (I cheated, the arms and eyes were needle felted in) : Rainbow cuttlefish by Agnes, sur Flickr It was a warmup for this bag, with polymer clay eyes again : Octopus by Agnes, sur Flickr This one is with the same resist as the octopus, but nuno felting : Coleoptera bag by Agnes, sur Flickr Some fan art, resist felting also, saved by the embroidery (I learned the hard way that hard edges, hard resists and too thin wool are not optimal : Tardis by Agnes, sur Flickr And a nuno felted bag with embroidery too (the chromosomes were fixed by needle felting and then refelted, and embroidered) : Hybridisation by Agnes, sur Flickr I wanted to thank you all for the great tutorials (especially Teri Pike's videos on resist felting and Zed's ebook on Nuno) and discussions on the forum.

Welcome Aggie. What wonderful work. I am very impressed with what you've created especially since you just started in February.
In regards to cheating, there is no such thing in my opinion. You use the techniques combined together to get the result you want. A piece doesn't have to be done all wet felting or all needle felting, combine techniques as much as you would like. I mix my techniques all the time.
I love how you used the same resist but got totally different outcomes. Please join in our conversations and make yourself at home here.

Welcome to the forum Aggie - your work is beautiful! I love the blue on the beetle.
Ruth is correct. There is no such thing as cheating in felting - if it works then go for it!

Hello Aggie and welcome. Your work is stunning. I love them all, but the cuttle fish is my favourite. Look forward to seeing more of you and your work here.

Welcome Addie! Your work is fabulous and no one would believe your felting journey started a couple of months ago. I think it was genius to use the same resist for two totally different results. I look forward to seeing more of your work! Where are you located?

Welcome to the forum. Your work is great. sea creatures seem to be on everyone's mind lately. I like the cuttlefish best. I would like to see the opening part of the octopus bag.

Thank you very much all for your kind words !
MtRuth, Lyn, thank you very much, I just felt it was cheating because I tried the other way and it wouldn't work properly, so I resorted to drastic measures.
Sheperdess, I need to make a picture (will do asap). It has no closure, you have to introduce your hand in the opening between the tentacles (same as for the cuttlefish). As they are felted hard in that area, it stays open. The resist of the cuttlefish is close in shape too, but it was opened in the end whereas the octopus was openened underside.
Pandagirl, I live very close from Paris (4 km to the south).

Wow, they're all excellent I agree, finding the best techniques and using a variety of skills isn't 'cheating'! I'm glad you liked the e-book
