I think I figured out what is going on on Frances' blog. If you click the first image in any post it opens that post on its own, and at the bottom of the post is a comments box. It makes you wonder what these themes are being designed to do as most of them seem to block discussion with your readers at every opportunity!
I had a play with twenty ten last night but found it messed up my sidebars, it's a bit tedious but I think I'm just going to have to keep downloading themes until I find one that makes it easy to leave a comment without messing up everything else! This is almost enough to make me want to learn html just so I can create my own theme!

That's why we have never changed themes. Once we got ours set up the way we liked it, we didn't want to go through the hassles.

I also use Wordpress and the theme Twenty Ten. I can see all the comments and the "leave a reply" box on your blog Teri, but only if I click on the title of one of your posts, to see just that post. That works in the same way on my blog. You either have a view showing the start of several posts (= home page/archives), or you can look at one post at a time (and see the comments).
What I canĀ“t find on your blog though is a function to "follow this blog", i.e. a button to click to register to receive an e-mail every time you add a new post. That could be worth adding to the side bar.

Thanks Zara - I think I might have been experimenting with new themes when you wrote your post so you might have caught me mid transfer, hopefully this new theme (thanks Ann - it is the ZeePersonal one) will be a bit more reader friendly, I just need to fix a few things that have changed in the side bars.

Aha! Now I found the plus sign on the top right corner that reveals your side bar - so now I have signed up as a follower. ;-) I wonder if the layout is different depending on if I view it from an iPad or laptop? I know my blog views differently in "mobile" vs "full site" version.

yes, it should be I deliberately picked a "responsive" theme so it should look ok on smaller devices - but thanks for the reminder I really need to check it is ok (one of my early attempts refused to show anything but my Etsy mini plug in on my phone! Not very helpful at all )

Thanks Ann, I'm waiting for my "tech support" to get back from France so he can help me change the top banner from black to blue or orange, I expect you can change the font size too but I am utterly clueless about HTML and my previous attempts to edit it have left me locked out of my website and needing to be rescued

I get it. I don't know html either. I am always scared I will do something I shouldn't.
