mwes - just start with a small book resist with 3 pages and minimal embellishment. Then you can see how it works without being a ton of work. Even if it doesn't work out as expected, you will have tried it and it won't be so intimidating any more.

Liz I love your colour combination and your bowl looks far better felted than my first attempt with using a resist!

Smiff your vessel looks great and the beading really finishes it off.

It is a beauty!!! When you take your captain Hook to the festival and the octopus, you will have an attention grabber!!

Thanks again for the comments. Mwes, I didn't find the beading too difficult and I'm not a sewer by any means! I did a bit of searching online and just do a very simple stitch picking up one bead for every stitch. It's the only thing I can do with beads!

I do like the octopus' body, now I feel guilty for my poor headless chap. Although yours also reminds me of a hybrid octopus/ bagpipe combo... In a good way!

Ha, ha.... he reminds me of a bagpipe too! Your chappy may be headless but he has a great bod and I bet, living where he does, he is happier than mine!

Is his body hollow or solid? I love the way his eyes turned out. You will have to vacation at the seashore so you can take his picture there.

That's a very impressive octopus Karen! I really do need to have a go at book resists, but something much simpler. Something with fewer than 8 tentacles.... ;-)
