There are some fascinating small shops in Kyoto in the “antiques” district. If you know where you are going, you could probably find some amazing fiber stashes. We looked for vintage kimonos and only found one shop but we didn’t have good advice from our American tour leader. She had never been to Japan before and didn’t have much interest in the arts. We did some of our own sleuthing and found a tiny building of artist galleries, most of which were unfortunately closed.
The fresh made daifuku in Japan is amazing, sold on the streets in small kiosks. That you cannot duplicate! Would love to return some day. Enjoy it while you can! Look forward to seeing more of your work.

I love Japanese felting books too! I can't read any of it, but they have such beautiful ideas.
