Ruth described an exciting new book on the blog a couple of weeks ago ( link) and challenged us to interpret 2 of the designs from the book in our preferred media. This is my nuno felt interpretation of the nature design, I have put some detailed instructions of what I did on my blog if anyone wants to try something similar. I think it has the feel of looking through a window onto an overgrown garden, I can't decide whether or not to straighten up the edges and add some embroidery detailing- what would you do? I can't resist picking out the white hairs that have migrated through from the back, every time I walk past a few more get picked off....

I love it! I like it just the way it is. I think you should leave it. I will show it to Deb, I'm sure she will love it too

Fabulous! It does remind me of stained glass window too. Don't change anything.

Bl***y **ll Teri, you CUT all those intricate shapes from the pre-felt? Amazing. So intricate, I've never seen that done on felt. I say leave it, too, the design & graphic nature is its strength, it doesn't need anything more.

Thanks everyone The freezer paper really is essential for a design as detailed as this one, without the prefelt would just fall apart and get into a tangled mess. Cutting out did take a couple of hours but I did it in front of the TV so it didn't feel like work.

Freeze paper? Tell me more. How do you attach it to prefelt?

Wonderful, Teri! Lots of cutting and rolling makes for a lovely interpretation of a stained glass window.

Freeze paper? Tell me more. How do you attach it to prefelt? I'm not sure how it is meant to be used, the name suggests a food use (I'm curious to know if anyone uses it for its official use?) It has a shiny and a Matt side, I drew on the Matt side and then ironed it shiny side down onto the prefelt. Then you can cut through both the paper and prefelt at the same time.

Here in the US, freezer paper is used to wrap up things like meat and then freeze them.

That sounds right, Teri. We have that here. Does the matte side stick to the prefelt? I'm just curious. I'd never try such an ambitious piece! That's truly amazing!

The shiny side is plastic and can be ironed to any fabric including felt.
