For the snowflake card, I used a piece of felted prefelt that had been rust screen printed and then over dyed. The blue dye was much too strong and covered up most of the rust. Then I used screen printing inks of various mixtures of blue and white to stamp (made the snowflake stamps from stick on foam) the background. I then applied silver leaf with acrylic medium and a snowflake stamp. Last, I stitched with metallic thread.
For the other piece, it uses commercial felt (that melts) and a bunch of different pieces of polyester fabric. Layered these up and then stitched around and around and around. The holes are made with a soldering iron. Just heated it up and burned the holes through the felt.

Jill thank you for the gorgeous snowy robin, I've tried to capture him on this pic, but not sure I have done it justice, love him :-)

Glad he arrived safely, Carole. Slightly funny story - I made 3 similar cards & you were supposed to get the one with the nicest 'snow' - I used some very shiny, very white (nylon?) manmade fibres. But I wrote the better ones out without looking at the fronts, so you ended up with the least snowy & the slightly ugly robin.... but it's the thought that counts!!

ugly works for me, I like to think about him as quirky, I'm just back from travels around the Caribbean and I bought turtle at each island - my favourite was not the glass, shell or onyx ones it was the funny little wooden one from St Kitts with it's head on the side making strange little nodding movements :-)

He's not ugly, just fluffed up to keep warm in the snow. He's lovely.

I like him too. European robins are so different then the ones we have here. Yours are so small and round.

The European Robin Erithacus rubecula is about 5" long, a feisty, aggressive, territorial little character. Usually seen alone, he stays with us all year. The eggs are cream-beige.
The American Robin is in fact not a Robin, but a Thrush Turdus migatorius about 10" long and migratory. Eggs are blue.
It is thought the early settlers from Europe called them Robins because of the red breast plumage.

Great shibori Raven. I love felt shibori but it is so time consuming to do.
