I recently made a small, experimental piece of nuno felt from 4 layers of white merino topped with waste scraps of net. Teri Berry missed her vocation as a seer - this is her comment about the net felt: "My money is on it becoming a card or incorporated into a larger piece by the end of the month!" From the net felt I made a small picture 'Sydney the Seahorse' and it's framed and on my wall. (There's a couple more photos and a bit of detail on rosiepink's blog post.)

Wow, Lyn he's absolutely stunning! Far more beautiful than everything I had in mind for your tutu felt. Afraid, I'm not much of a seer after all

Very clever use of materials, Lyn….the background reminds me of those 60’s chenille bedspreads.

Very clever use of materials, Lyn….the background reminds me of those 60’s chenille bedspreads. Oh yes, it does. I can remember having a candlewick bedspread with wavy lines on it when I was a child. The white lines in the fabric made me think of wavy water - I tried laying it both vertically and horizontally, but vertically looked best.

That's gorgeous, Lyn! You should join one of those sites where you upload your photos and people can buy cards or art prints, it doesn't cost anything and you set how much you get (fine art America is one).

Thank you Elizabeth - the net is the kind that you might make into a tutu for a little girl for ballet classes. It's widely available in fabric shops in the UK in lots of colours. Have you looked in fabric shops in your area? I noticed on Etsy that it's called 'English Net' etsyIt's also on ebay (worldwide shipping) ebayI only used three colours (yellow, blue and pink) but where they overlapped they formed new colours!

OH Gosh, Lyn. Now I have to go to the fabric store! ;-) The last time I looked for net there were so many different weights I was lost. Some were very fine and others very loose. I think I can tell how open the net you use is. Thanks for the post.
