I'm sure those of you who do natural dyeing probably know this, but I spilt some turmeric on my freezer today, so tried to wipe it off with a bit of wet kitchen roll (paper towel), and it just spread, so I sprayed it with a kitchen cleaner, and it turned deep red/brown on the towel. Later on, I was wondering about it, and tapped a bit of turmeric on a plate and added a drop of vinegar, nothing happened. I put a drop on the red-ish blobs on the paper towel and it turned yellowy again.

Which kitchen cleaner did you use?

I've used turmeric for dyeing wool but it's lost its colour very quickly...

I bet there is ammonia in the cleaner.

I have dyed wool and locks with turmeric in the past and never did lose color, no bleeding--but I didn’t spray it with household cleaners either!
