Greetings! I am originally from south central Pennsylvania, now living in south central Indiana. I began my adventures with felt by fulling handbags. As a former handbag and luggage designer...my first job after graduating from college, designing knitted and Fulled bag patterns is just one of my fiber obsessions. A few years ago I discovered needle felting, felt sculpting, machine needle felting as a way to embellish my bag designs. I have nerve damage in my cervical spinal cord that has caused weakness to my arms, shoulders and hands. I have been working on ways to achieve felted fabric with the assistance of power tools and other devices and share my experiences with others. I look forward to learning more about this amazing art from from all of you... Elizabeth, welcome! I love the flowers! I also love the quote under your avatar.
This is a great group of people! Ask a question and it will be answered many times, then just pick the answer you like best and report back your results.

Welcome Elizabeth! I love irises as well. The handbag is gorgeous. I love the three dimensional flowers. I've had spinal surgery as well and have had to learn different methods to get the results I want. I do have a wet felting machine for big projects since like you it's difficult for me to stand and roll for long periods. I've learned to pace myself which has gone a long way to letting me do the things I want to. When there's a will there's a way!

I find felting, thinking about felting, reading about felting becoming a true obsession! Between felt and knitting, there is tell tale evidence of what I would rather be doing all over the house, abandoning a 30+ involvement in bridal veil and accessory design. But hey, all that silk tulle I have stashed makes a great foundation for felt flowers and Nuno! And I do plan on making knitting stitch markers with my jewelry supplies, LOL! Sigh, I still need to make veils to afford this habit! My poodle's coat has grown to almost 4" over the winter. I have been saving her spring clippings for a future someday felt project. I suppose it will be my final excuse/justification to invest in a drum carder! Space in my studio is becoming cramped!
Marilyn, what kind of wet felting machine do you use?

Welcome to the forum, Elizabeth, your bags are lovely I think someone should invent a rubbing machine instead of concentrating on rolling or poking machines. Something lightly textured, soft ridges or bumps on the bottom, which just simply glides backwards and forwards, which can be moved across or if it's fancy gradually moves across by itself.

Welcome to the forum Elizabeth, your flowers a lovely.
Something quiet and slower than a sander or buffer. Although I didn't find the sander took any less time than just rubbing by hand with a Tupperware lid.
