Marilyn asked to see anything 'boxy' and I remembered a vessel I made a couple of years ago. I made it over a flat, wide 'U' shaped resist but before it got too set in its ways, I formed it around a square sweetie jar that had slightly rounded corners at the bottom. With either adapting the resist or cutting away unnecessary felt from the top then smoothing the edges, it would be possible to make a 'hinged' lid.

love the coloured stripes on your vessel Lyn, it looks like you have used some variegated pencil roving, or is it something else? This reminded me of a challenge I set myself during a workshop with Yvonne Habbe, to make a hollow felt cube. It was more challenging than I expected, as you pull it and stretch it straight on one side it becomes misshapen on another side. The resist is still inside it in this photo:

Teri - I remember seeing your cube (on your blog perhaps?) and being very impressed!
The embellishment on the vessel is a slubby 100% wool yarn - I fell in love with the colours and bought a hank at a show.

Both nice "boxes". Felting something that is truly square is definitely a challenge.

I can see why you bought that yarn, I wouldn't have been able to resist either and you have used it to beautiful effect. Yes, this cube did feature on my blog, I have since added some coloured stitching along the edges but cannot lay my hands on a picture at the moment.

Hello Lyn and Teri both very pretty boxes..
Teri, I can not imagine how you made your box but it turned out perfectly square.. I would love to see it with stitching when you find the photo. Smile..

From what I can see it doesn't look bad. You have some nice ruching. But if you're not happy with it as a bag I'm sure you'll find a way to repurpose it.

You learn something every time you felt and I'm sure you'll think of what to do with it. You can always cut it up and make it into something else.

Its not as bad as some I have made. I can see how the way it rushed may not be what you want in a lining. You could turn it inside out and see how it looks. and as the others say. you can always cut and sew.

Elisabeth, it doesn't look bad at all. take this as a learning experience. It seems that it was polyester which you used for lining - it is usually pretty tricky
