I wanted to practise stitching on felt so I had a look through my scrap box and found some offcuts from when I made a set of placemats and coasters from natural coloured wools. I thought they'd be nice to use, but it also meant spinning some thread from natural wools too, but that was fun while watching old episodes of Poirot Button hole stitch: Buttonhole stitch by zedster01, on Flickr Fly stitch: fly stitch by zedster01, on Flickr Feather Stitch and beads: feather stitch by zedster01, on Flickr

Those are really nice. Wonderful that you spun your own thread as well.

Those are lovely! Stitching on felt is fab.
I really like the first one (labelled button hole stitch)- I can't explain why but it really takes my eye.

OH i love them all to zed, thats a very clever idea and you could mount them all on a nice background board and they'd look awesome. Stitched Art

Thanks a lot everyone I like the first one a lot too, it has lots of different colours. It is incredibly thick after all the sewing

Zed - the stitching really does stiffen/thicken the felt up, and that's a plus when you're making a picture to hang.

Thanks, Ann Lyn, I was really surprised when I first machine stitched on a soft piece of felt and found it suddenly sturdy These scraps were thick to start with being from mostly coarse wools and made for placemats, now with coarse thread even more so
