Thank you Frances.....I'm familiar with the article......good information BUT....bottom line, it's what customers will pay that really sets the price. I belong to a professional fiber art group (13 of us). Most participate in the annual opportunity to hang our quilts (for sale) at the very heavily visited Pisgah Inn Restuarant along the Blue Ridge Parkway. It wasn't until our normal per square foot prices were lowered that sales became active. Those that kept 'high end gallery prices", found their work unsold at the end of the season. I realize folks aren't going there to shop.....purchases are probably impluse. However, there's no denying....once we lowered our prices, work sold. Frustrating as of course there is a hefty commission taken.....but that's the reality....at least for this location.
For me with 25+ years of workshop, magazine, book samples......I'm happy that the pieces can be enjoyed further.....and not stored by me!
