Im new to wet felting and loving it.I stumbled on this studio and forum and am learning so much.I recently visited Bath Maine and a great shop called Halcyon. It has a grand selection of roving and felter supplies. Ive been wanting to blend colors but not ready to invest in a carder so purchased a blending board by Ashford. It works!!!! Im still learning and its a little hard to get the wool off ,but Ill get there.Any tips from others using one are greatly appreciated.

Hello Mary and welcome to the forum. I'd not heard of a blending board, so I 'googled' it and found this useful youtube video that shows how to load the board and how to remove the wool easily. how to use the Ashford Board

Welcome Mary! I haven't blended wool with a blending board either but I have a carder. I hope you'll join in the conversations and show us some photos of what you've made or wool you've blended. We love photos

Welcome to the forum. I haven't watched the video but have a few friends with blending boards. If you want it to be a bat the easiest thing to do s staple some heavy plastic to one of the dowel and then you can easily unroll the rollag into a batt. We do love pictures of what everyone is doing. Please share.

Welcome to the Forum, Mary. You have made a good “stumble” by finding us. Friendly, informative and lots of fun. I saw a blending board at the Midwest Fiber & Felting Fair in this past August. It looked very cool but I was flabbergasted at the price!

Welcome Mary! We'd love to see how you use the blending board and your felt creations. I've only seen a blending board, not used it. I have a carder. It sounds like you have more control with the board.

Hi Mary, welcome to the forum I've only recently heard about blending boards, and hadn't see one used till the video Lyn posted (don't you just love NZers!?) I've never been great with using carderd the conventional way and have used mine like that in the past, without sticks though! Marilyn, if you have commercial wool tops (or embellishment tops), try holding the tops lightly over the large drum as you turn it, you can add colours how/where you want then. Or use your fingers to guide the wool in to keep it where you want.

Oh yes Zed. you can just use your big drum as a blending board. Using the sticks I think stretches it a little as you take it off I think it helps it all stick together better.
