I found on WoW and Wollknoll that they sell silk caps. I wonder what they are used for. Have you used them? Wht is the difference between caps and hankies?

They're the same except that the hankies are cocoons stretched onto a square frame whereas caps are shaped over a "U" shaped frame forming a bell shaped pocket.

I see, but do they serve any special purpose?

They work great to add silk to a hat. When it's just wet pull a cap over the hat. You get a great look on your hat. I can't find a picture right now.

Found them the black and white one is several caps pealed off together. I put some on the inside too
This one has flowers made form hankies and a cap pulled over it and the whole hat. It doesn't stand out as much as the colour was copper rather than a contrasting one and I didn't use as many layers.

Thank you girls for all your suggestions and posted pictures and links. They seem to be useful in making hats. I like your gres hat Ann.

Nada, I use them on just about anything. I especially like using them to embellish scarves and pods or vessels, but they work well in pictures, too. I had used them in my autumn picture last year.

Hello Ann, your 2 hats are a wonderful example of the use of silk caps.. I have never used silk caps but I do have some I've had around for years. I did not know you could pull them apart.. Something new learned today.. Smile....

They are a little more finicky to pull apart then the hankies. you can stretch them out flat to use just like silk hankies too. when you use hankies to cover a hole project you often have thicker lines form the edges unless you are very careful.

Thank you for all the information - I saw silk caps for sale on a site the other day and wondered what they were.
