Hello Hellie! Your felt turned out well. How lovely to be gifted two fleeces! You will have a lot of felting ahead of you, and we would love to see your results.

Hello Hellie, welcome.. I am sure you will enjoy being here in the forum. Everyone are very kind in sharing their knowledge...
I think I would love to be surrounded by hills and sheep. .. What sheep breed of fleece did you received???
Your first felting project turned out great. It reminds me of an "Eye of a Storm"... Very similar to Ann's first impression..
I look forward to seeing more of your work..

Thank you all for you lovely comments.
One of the sheep is a Welsh Black Mountain and the other was a Poll Dorest Cross. I'm looking forward to doing my next piece of work, but need to dye some of the wool first. I have order some more wool, which I'm having for Christmas as I don't think the one cream fleece will go very far.

Welcome Hellie - I'm glad you joined us. Sounds like you're hooked, it is magical, isn't it? I am always amazed at the process of turning loose fiber into a sturdy piece of felt. Your first piece is great and I like the bit of color that you added to the natural colors. Have fun and do feel free to ask any questions and show us what you make. We love photos

Welcome Hellie!
Your first attempt is great. I think I see a kitty in the pattern. It's wonderful you have been given such a nice gift of the fleeces. As Ann points out its a wonderful addiction and you've found the right place to share. I look forward to seeing more of your work! Have fun and come back to ask as many questions as you like.

Your work is already beautiful, your style is certainly there! Maybe the next one could use some loose-ish curls, do you have any angora around?

Thanks NotYouGrandmasFelt. No I don't have any angora, I've never knitted with it, I think it's all those little hairs that get up your nose that has put me off using it!

I know it's tempting with all the nice smells, but you're not meant to huff the wool, Hellie Angora or mohair is nice to use in wet felting if it is 'raw' unwashed, the curls stay and don't fly everywhere like combed top.
