Hi everyone,
I am from Lincolnshire in England, and am thrilled to have found this site as a newcomer to needle felting. Hoping to improve my future projects (and share some pics of them too).
Up to now, I have made a schnauzer, a beaded giraffe, a narwhale, pink elephant and Japanese landscapes too. I like quirky designs and use pipe cleaners for about half my figures.

Welcome Keen2learn! I'm sure you will find a lot of inspiration and new knowledge here. I'm not into needle felting but admire everyone who can neddle felt 3D objects.

Just want to say thanks for the warm welcome and here is my favourite 3d creation. It has an orange butterfly on the end of its trunk and orange ears.
Can anyone think of a name for her?
Kate
p.s. hope the photos load ok

The photos look fine Kate. I love her and the butterfly. Thanks for sharing! I'll think about the name. Nothing jumps out at me yet.

Welcome to the Forum, keen2learn! This is a terrific place to share your work and experiences with fibers. I am a wet-felter and needle-felter and have found much to learn from other members.

Welcome Kate, you will find many helpful people here on this site. Your needle felted wee elephant is very pretty. I find needle felting 3 D figures very challenging. But I like doing landscapes.

Hi K, welcome to the forum Your elephant is very sweet. I'd love to be able to do 3D needlefelting. Thanks Pandagirl, cjfelter and Zed. I find 3d felting difficult as I tend to make the characters too flat despite turning the felt.
Does anyone know a solution, as I have several animals and they are all going to be brooches at the moment lol.

Really all you can do is add more fiber to where you need it. one nice thing about needlfelting is you can always add more.

Welcome K! I'm glad you joined us. When you are making your figures, have you been using a base wool underneath and then covering with colored wool? I usually use an inexpensive wool to make the shapes of the figure and then use the colored wool to cover and connect the shapes. I find that the tighter the base wool is wrapped into an egg shape with less air left in it, the easier it is to maintain the shape. Hope that makes sense.
