Pretty funny, but I’ve got Number 11 for you, a quote from one of my siblings, seriously:
“I’ve got rags that look like that!"

OK, so make that #11 and #12….been having “errors” and delays with ProBoards the last few days. Anybody else notice that?

That's great Frances and Cathy!
I've had several errors the past few days. They usually resolve fairly quickly.

I've got errors too: my post eppear twice and I cannot delete them. As for remarks: yes, you often hear that. These are people who have no idea about handcraft and I would personally not want to sell anything to them.

If someone said something like that to me, depending on the day, I'd either run of to the toilets and cry, or tell them how rude they are with as many swear words as I could punctuate it with.

My family members are very good at trading barbs, and sometimes things are said that are terribly insensitive. You learn to roll with the punches!

Oh, I wouldn't punch them, I don't think. Maybe

If someone is rude to me, I feel wounded and like crying and I desperately try to think of a retort but rarely can I reply with one ...
... however, when I've had time to think, and the person has long gone, I can come up with some really good retorts!

With my brother--the sib who made the crack about the rag--you would be wasting your breath with a retort, even if you could think of one. I’ve given up trying! You could say I’ve mellowed.

If pithy retorts don't work you could get your self a cattle prod. Might teach him some respect. Family what can you do?

Years and years ago, my sister asked what I'd got my mum for Christmas and I said I'd made her some picture frames (which I saw last week she still uses) and she said 'Oh You're not gonna make picture frames for me are you?' I felt crushed, and never made her anything again until last year. I knew she was buying me wool for Christmas, so I thought I'd make her a notebook cover out of whatever came ... lots of pink wool because she couldn't work out how to change the page on World of Wool She looked like she was genuinely impressed, and when she came down to the craft fair, she kept picking up a heart shaped ring pouch I'd made, so at packing up, I told her she could have it, she said 'No, it's ok, make me one for Christmas'

Well, as they say, you can choose your friends but not your family. So Zed, your story has a happy ending! But Ann, a cattle prod? Really? heh heh Too bad they don’t sell them in Chicago.

I hear these all the time at the store. You learn to ignore these people. Family members who disparage my work never get any more of it.
