Hello Everyone, Today I finished my wet felted Seascape. I did some embroidery with metallic threads. And added beading in the Sea. I also added 3 Ivory Seahorses, 2 Ivory turtles rushing to the Sea from the sandy white beach. The waves were started to straighten out so I stitched them periodically so the waves would not flatten out. I added some stitched birds and also included a bead bird. I also put my usual JG with beads in the left corner. I mounted it on "Core Board" that I covered in the front with hand dyed 100% wool. Then on the back I added hand dyed shades of blue batik fabric and stitched it on. All I need to do now is add to button on each side and tie a wire or cord between them and it will be ready to hang. It did not cost me anything to mount it. All the stuff I all ready had in my staff. What do you all think??? feltingandfiberstudio.files.wordpress.com/2016/09/7uqmyd1_kvjhi9abtds8.jpg

Judy, it looks great. How did you attach the sea horses and glass? It was very creative to use the foam board, buttons and batik!

Looks wonderful. It's great that you were able to frame it with items you already had. Waste not, want not

Great. The beading is wonderful I like that the subtlety of it. You see the whole thing and not the separate elements.

Mounting on the wool as you did is very sympathetic to the picture and I like the way you've done the sea - it's got movement!

Hello everyone, I've been out of town visiting my MOM to celebrate her 81 st birthday. We took her out of the nursing home for a whole day and drove along our Lake Huron and watch the big freighters passing by. Out to a nice dinner and ice cream to top it off. She loved it and thanks us for the day. Then after we got back to the nursing home-and about 30 minute later I ask her about the choppy lake seen early and she did not remember.. How very cruel dementia is to our elderly. I have learn to live in the hear and now with my MOM. But it is difficult to do.
So I just want to say I am catching with you all. Thanks for the nice comments on the mount for my By The Sea.. Hugs

Judy, the seascape and mounting technique looks good! I had thought about using core foam board for some of my pieces but thought it was too thin. Is the wool covering the foam a flat felted piece? It looks so natural. Nice work!

Sorry to hear about your mum, Judy. My Gran had Alzheimers and it was really sad. I'm glad you had a nice day though, you'll remember it.

Thank you Zed. I have finally come to realized that the time we spend together will only be in the here and now and it will be me who will remember. So you are truly right. But it still makes my heart sad.

Hello Cathy. It is hand dyed 100% wool fabric that I felted in the washing machine and then thru in the dryer. I then stapled it to the core board and then covered the back with batik fabric.

Judy, Very nice effect, and good ideas for framing and finishing! I may try some of those techniques when I get ready to frame some more of my wall pieces. Thanks for sharing!

Judy, sorry to hear about your Mom. We've had that experience in our family as well. It is never easy for the people who remember. Try to keep the memories of who she was before the disease.
