Hello. I am so happy to find this site! I too have been a lonely felt-er. Not one person I know has ever heard of felting. Every class I have found closest to home is still too far in miles for me to attend. My sweet husband and daughter have tried needle felting... a little. They don't share the same level of excitement as I have but they're great encouragers. My friends understand my appreciation of wool and help me look for bargains. I began needle felting almost a year ago and have been enjoying it so much right from the beginning. I have tried some wet felting and although that is also fun, needle felting is my favorite. It's such a fun and forgiving form of art! I especially enjoy creating birds.
I noticed the newest challenge is Monet. How exciting! I look forward to seeing all of the wooly works of impressionism.

Hello Leslie and welcome! The challenge is open to everyone and it would be great to see some needle felting inspired by Monet.

Welcome to the forum, I hope you share some of your work and join in the challenge, I started out with needle felting too and still use it for embellishing.

Welcome to the Forum, Leslie! I also started out as a needle-felter and then got tangled into wet felting. So now I do both! Best way to start, show us some pics and then join the Challenge.

Hello Leslie and welcome! I don't needlefelt, have far too much respect for my fingers! Look forward to seeing your creations though. We just love photos here. Judith

Hi Leslie, I'm pretty new here, too, and understand how it feels to be a lonely felter! I hope you try something for the Monet challenge, I'm hoping to make something that I'm not afraid to show other people. I don't know much about needle felting, but would love to see some of your creations.

This is a great and safe place to share. We all were newbies once. I've only been felting for a couple of years and have learned so much here. Like you, Laura, I was apprehensive about sharing, but it has helped me grow as an artist.

Laura, don't be afraid to share, there's a uniqueness about first felting attempts which are hard to recapture, trying out things before you've heard all the stories about what 'works' or 'doesn't work' or getting bogged down by certain expectations, or expectations of others with narrow views. Enjoy experimenting and discovering which results you like or dislike.
