It doesn't have to look like the original - it's an impression after all.

I purchased a package of silk hankies last weekend at the Alpaca Fest and decided to play with one - I laid out some roving and then a little mound of fiberfill and the the silk hankie wrinkled up and then felted. After it was dry I needle felted it some to give a little more dimension. Not sure what I will do with it. Monet Water Lily

Frances, this is lovely. It's a pitty I cannot magnify the picture too see more details but it looks very nice, both the colours and texture. I'm sure you'll get an idea what to do with it - on a handbag, perhaps?

It's beautiful! What did you think of using the silk hankie? I think they will be very useful in creating texture. A little hard to manupulate but I made sure I had just creamed my hands really well.

Yes - they are a bit like cobwebs and my hands are rough enough that they always seem to stick.

If your wool is wet it is much easier to put the silk on and not have it stick to your hands.

Grrr, when you think you have your hankie in the perfect postion, turn to walk away and it comes with you! That looks gorgeous, Frances, I love the texture and effect, it reminds me of talc in the rock/mineral form Talc, Argonaut Quarry, Ludlow, Windsor County, Vermont by sdixclifford, on Flickr
