Oh excellent - I have been considering using Monet as inspiration for some time, he's one of my favourite artists. I would have guessed that you'd already had him. Now I mustn't start today, got 2 things on the go currently & work to do, never mind housework etc!

I decided to make a simple piece (no embellishments and no stitching - just merino wool) so that the felt might look 'painted'. The upside of simplicity is that it doesn't take very long to make! When I looked at the Monet paintings in the link that Marilyn gave in the blog, I noticed that some were circular and I quite liked them. So here's my 'impression' of a potted plant. It's approx 38cm / 15" across. Click on the image to enlarge. Yes, the colours really are that bright! I chose these four for impact: It's perfect summer weather here today, but that's not good news for felt photography. The sun is too strong and the shade too deep. However, in the mornings I get the sun shining through my craft room window. I use that light - diffused by bright white voile curtains - to get good indoor shots with true colour. I've made a couple of reflector boards, from cardboard and aluminium foil, so that the felt is evenly lit from both ends of the table.

Great piece Lyn! Monet would be pleased. I love the reflection board. I'll have to try that. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks - I was lucky to have some spare time and it really didn't take long because it was so simple.
p.s. It was almost dry when I took the photo!

Well it's like this Judith, if I'd waited until it was absolutely dry I'd have missed the morning sunlight that shines straight into my window for the photo - and it was perfect light! And although the BBC says we're getting wall-to-wall sunshine again down here tomorrow, we can never be sure can we? This is tomorrow's forecast for down here but our weather is fickle isn't it?

UK weather certainly is fickle Lyn. Our northerly version doesn't have all those lovely "sunflowers", though the temps look good for us! It's also very local here in the Dales. The sheep are happy though, so all is good in the Dales Do you get "Country File" on BBC in your neck of the woods? The family in Ravenseat are not that far from us. We have Le Tour de France in our area this weekend, great excitement! You may have heard of the White Horse of Kilburn. Well here's the White bike of Wenselydale, our neighbouting dale and my family's origin - The Metcalfe clan www.dalesman.co.uk/the-white-bike-of-wensleydale/12206

Apologies to the BBC - we have clear blue skies.
Yes we do get Country File - fabulous prog - so we get to see the beautiful area you live in. The white bike is a great idea! Down here we only have 'naughty' men and horses carved into the hills.

That's really nice, Lyn Are those orange things on the forecast pollen clouds, and are the numbers how many times I'll sneeze a minute?
