Hi everyone, my name is Laura and I'm pretty new to wet felting. I took an on-line class recently and learned a lot of new surface design techniques that I hope to use in upcoming projects. Some of my classmates are members on this forum, so hi again to all of you!
So far I've done quite a few vessels using a resist, and find the whole process 100% addicting. So many things to try! In my area of the US, there aren't a lot of people who even know what felting is, so finding a group like this is wonderful. One thing I'm having fun experimenting with are the different types of wool breeds available on-line, and I only wish I could afford to buy some of it all to try out.

Hi Laura Ann and welcome to the Forum! I believe we were in the same on-line class, and I am glad you found us here on the Forum. This is a terrific, friendly and knowledgeable group. Most of us love to experiment with new techniques in felting, dyeing and what-have-you.

Hi Lauraann! Welcome. Did you take Fiona Duthie's class? Several of us did myself included. Where in NC are you, if I may ask? I spent a great deal of time there while my son and his family lived in Franklin. Beautiful country! Please post your work, we love to share.

You guys are all famous felters! Ruth, I have your book, and it's amazing. Lyn, it was all your fault that I got hooked on felting--your blog tutorial on making a vessel with a resist got me started. Yes, I was in Fiona's class, I recognize a few classmates here. It was a wonderful experience, even though I didn't do all the samples yet. Marilyn, I live in Thomasville, which is near Winston-Salem. I believe Franklin is near Asheville, in the mountains, right? I live about 2 hours from there. I'm originally from Northern New York State, been here about 10 years. Wish I was back up there today, it's 94 degrees and steamy outside.
Where is the best place to post pictures? All mine are on my computer at work, I'll have to find them tomorrow.

Yes, Franklin is in the mountains about 70 miles west of Asheville. I haven't been to Winston Salem, but have been in Charlotte and recently Raleigh. I haven't seen anywhere that isn't pretty country.
You can post pictures in any of the sections pertaining to what the subject is. For instance, Nuno felting, wet felting or surface design.
Yes, Fiona's class was a great experience. I hope you get to try all the samples. You may not like all of them, but it's a great experience. I look forward to seeing them.
