Marilyn, I really meant adding text as koffipot did, not just an artist's signature--although that would be nice too! Koffipot, I just get nervous when trying to add embellishments to other artwork. I took an embroidery class once which turned out to be a lot of machine stitching on cloth, and it drove me crazy! I guess hand-stitching will be the way I go, unless somebody comes up with a better idea!

Just go with whatever you feel more comfortable with. It can be a bit daunting adding a freehand machined signature to a really nice piece. After all it's not like you can unpick it if all doesn't go to plan!

It's painstaking, but machine stitching can be unpicked from handmade felt. Always, always, unpick from the reverse side and use a stitch-ripper v e r y carefully.
I lost count of how many times I unpicked black stitching from the white felt that ended up as the tulip bowl.

I well remember using a stitch-ripper when I used to sew clothing and quilts…UGH! Think I'll go for the hand stitching after all.

Cathy I think your standing stones need definition, they need to pop off the page, I managed a good effect doing this with black felt needle-felted close to the things I wanted to stand out. On your piece I think a definate colour like black, navy or white would work. I also think you could use some to suggest shaping in the stones. I am mad about bling and beading but something about your piece suggests staying with the solid purposeful shapes :-)

I do that too sometimes, have to leave it alone for a while until inspiration strikes :-)
