I didn't know where to put this, so I thought maybe it fits into other. Today's little experiment went badly wrong, I was trying to melt plastic beads in the oven to make a solid circle, except it didn't all melt, so I threw on some bit of bubble wrap and this is what happened. Then I remembered I had a large wet felted pod waiting to be finished (I always have to add bling - it's an obsession) I quite like the combination, I haven't fixed it yet but the initial idea appeals to me.

Carole - that's really cool. Just wondering on the experiment if you changed the temperature or put it back in, would it melt more? Or were there different types of plastic in the beads?
I like the lacy look of it and it does match the colors of your pod well. Just not sure if you didn't have more melted bits to place around the pod if it would look well integrated?

I was thinking along the lines of adding more bits, as Ruth suggested, to make a cohesive piece. It's a cool experiment though, and you could be onto something great!

I like it just as it is. Fantastic to have something go wrong yet turn out so right!

A happy, beautiful accident! I love it on the pod the way it is.

Carole, very cool. Is this piece stiff or pliable enough so that you can attach it to felt?

Thank you for your lovely comments, I love it the way it is too, some bits did fall off, but you know what I was thinking rather than add melted bits, I would add individual beads around the place, the large bit is fairly pliable so I can either sew or glue it on :-)

That looks excellent Carole, perfect match! I wonder if that 5KG tub of Hama beads is still in my loft?

Hmmmm - I have dozens of little pots of different coloured Hama beads in my place ... but I'll have to wait until grand-daughter has outgrown them before I can get my mits on them.

Carole, I think adding beads here and there would be brilliant! Be sure to show us your finished project.

I hope you always wear a mask when melting plastics. I would even wear it if I did it outside.

between melting plastic and using a sander on wet felting my friends think I have a death wish over me, I did have the window open :-)

It actually reminds me a lot of a project I was involved in when I was around 20, that involved chicken wire, plastic bags, bubble wrap, all spray painted and then melted over the stove Even the same colours!
