He is wonderful. I think the pattern gives a great impression of scales. What will you do with him let him sit or hang him.

Gorgeous fish--just love the color combination you chose. I can see him floating in the air, hanging from the ceiling. How large is your fish?

Thank you Ann, Cathy! Yes I think hanging is better, more space for fins... The size is 13"x6" (35cm x 15 cm) with top fin and tail. I wanted it to be smaller but this carded wool didn't want to shrink!

Felicity, my hat off! Wonderful work and I like colour combinations. I assume you were using a resist but how did you manage to work in the interior of the fish (the hole for the mouth is rather small). Which parts did you stitch on? Did you use masking tape or some other material as a resist on the surface to imitate scale?

Thank you Nada! Yes it was a flat resist inside and I worked it out from outside through the "mouth" hole. Usually I made a smallest possible hole just to get my hand in and with softer wool it become larger quickly. But in this case coarse wool didn't let the opening increase so I needed to cut it more. Any way I worked from inside to shape it. No stitching at all! I use a pattern cut from plastic bag to create "scales". It didn't worked as I expected but I like it still. Here gone-felting.blogspot.co.uk/2013/07/tablet-case.html you can see a much better pattern but then wool was different and easier to work with.

I think he's great and I think the scale pattern is wonderful. I love the color combination as well. He looks like he needs some friends to swim around with
