Hello, fellow forum members Here I am, sharing with you a wee creation of mine. This is the first time I'm showing my work here, so I thought I'd start with one of my favourites - Sloth In A Cup. Sloth In A Cup was a lot of fun to make. I had an idea of wanting to make a cute animal 'taking a bath' in a teacup and, after purchasing two sets from a local charity, I decided a sloth would be fun. I can't remember how long this took me, but I do know one of my fears was glueing the felt to the ceramic. It ended up being a silly concern, since my trusty glue gun did a great job. I also glued the saucer to the cup, and the spoon as well, so nothing would get lost when in their new human's home. feltingandfiberstudio.files.wordpress.com/2016/09/eabmjz0ydjrmclegdouf.jpgSloth was sold Last Christmas (now try not to sing the song after you read this sentence!) and I will miss him. Might have to make another sloth soon... Thanks for reading! x

Thanks Leonor! He is darling and a unique idea with the cup and saucer. Will you do another sloth or try a different animal? I look forward to seeing it.

Thanks, Marilyn I'm also trying to get a Frog In A Cup going, but my dog custom orders have been taking most of my time lately... I love making sloths, they have such a cute look to them! I made one as a mini wall hanging and had so much fun I might have to think of another sloth soon!

I am trying to make a sloth right now and I am stuck on the claws! How do you make the claws?

Hi, jhawkjess I just used wire and wrapped wool around it, but you can use FIMO or other type of polymer clay. Good luck!

Thank you very much for your help! I was thinking wire! Do you stick the wire directly into the piece and then put wire around it? Any tips on attaching the claws? Sorry to ask so many questions, but this is my first project and I have to get it done for a baby shower Friday!

I tend to change my technique a lot, it depends on my mood at the moment, but you could either glue it to the wool, or make a loop and attach the wire to the wool, etc. Use your imagination and experiment! A word of caution, though - since you mention you're doing this for a baby shower, don't forget to have safety in mind first - this means no wire or bits that baby might put in their mouth! If it's just for decoration, remind Mum to keep the cute animal out of reach of baby, too (which might be hard when they grow up and your creation looks cute and inviting!)
