Having been inspired by Ann's bracelet with balls I decided to make my own experiment. I found a small plastic easter egg (5 cm long) and decided to use it for making a future ornament. I wanted to use some knitted fabric for structure inside. Here is the picture of the material To make sure that the fabric does not move I "glued" it to each end of the egg with concentrated washing liquid and put some wool around in two different colours . After felting and when I cut the felt across and took the egg out I found out that the fabric did move probably because the surface of the egg was very smooth (plastics). In the following experiment I used a larger felted ball and did the same. This time the fabric stayed in place and I got the desired result. I m quite encouraged to continue but I would still like to know if there are other tricks and do's and dont's when dealing with balls. I think such small cups can be very useful for decorations.

I was about to ask if you wet or needlefelted them, then realised it was the Wet felting section I suppose you could needle the fabric to a bit of wool first. I've only used balls or bubblewrap for 3d resists, and spray with soapy water first. You could rub the egg with sandpaper to rough it up, give it a key so it isn't so slippy?

Good idea, Zed, I'll try this next time.

what a great idea, and the knitted fabric presumably give grip to the felt :-)

They turned out great. I like both sets, You could try turning the first ones inside out to get the fabric on the outside. I think it would look interesting. The eggs are slippery, all the wool tends to move around. You could put a bit of wool, just a tiny bit, under the fabric. If you scale up you get the vessel on a 3d resist.

Neat idea - I did this once with Easter eggs and they got really wonky because the egg shape squashed. But yours look good.
