It is like using your dryer. Roll up your felt and put it inside. This would make doing larger pieces possible. I am looking for the tube still. this one was for sale in Australia or New Zealand. someone posted about it a few years ago on a different forum.

What a large machine! Where do you keep it? But I believe it saves a lot of rolling especially if you have a larger piece.

Wow, that is enormous! Hope you have a very large garage or basement in which to store it!

I don't have it yet. I am still trying to find a tube to make it but it will be in side when its made. I am thinking 5-6 feet long. This one looks like it's 8 or 10. I am hopping to be able to felt some rugs. even the cat caves are really heavy when they are wet.

Wow! Maybe you'll attempt a yurt like Ruth. :-) Carpets would be cool to do, too.

Anyone else got photos or ideas for felting tools? Or general wet felting tips? I have started to put the blog post together and it will be published next week. So if you want your thoughts included, please post them + photos. Thanks!

Thanks for posting the pics of the felt roller Ann, your timing is perfect. My other half is an engineer and agreed to build me a felting machine (he nearly fell of his chair when I told him how much the commercial ones cost). He was working on a design based on the rollers and a ratchet system to move the top roller up and down but says the system in your pics would be much simpler to build (I'm hoping that means I will receive a working machine sometime this year!).
He also said the pipe could be either gas or water mains pipe - not sure if that helps any in your search for suitable pipe?

Wow, Teri, you hit the jackpot! Wouldn't I love one of those machines so I could make my two cats their own cat caves!

Ruth - To prevent friction damage during the final shaping of 3D felt with your hands (after rinsing the soap out of the felt) wear thin latex gloves for a smooth finish.
